Small Groups

The Lord is doing incredible things in our church, in our ministry, and on campus. Students are becoming more naturally supernatural in their daily lives. Hearts are burning to see the Lord breakthrough in even greater ways. As this exciting time is upon us, we have felt the desire for greater community and the need to make more disciples among the college students.

As a result, we feel the Lord is moving us in the direction of missional communities, or small groups. We want to study the Word together, love each other, walk together in faith, serve together, and be in the Lord’s presence together.

Starting this next semester(January 2012), Godsearch college ministry will be composed of small groups meeting three times a month, while joining together the other week in worship and prayer with other groups in the ministry.

Why is this the way we are doing things?

We looked at the biblical example of Jesus. Jesus had a core group of three disciples (Peter, James, and John) with whom he poured everything into and gave of himself. Outside of that, he spent most of his time with the 12 disciples (small group). They studied together, practiced ministry together, ate together. Furthermore, there was the seventy-two(Godsearch) and hundreds and thousands more (the church). We hope to duplicate this model.

We’re excited and hope you are too!

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV
